Winner
of the Best Film at the Sundance Film Festival (under its former title Padre
Nuestro), SANGRE DE MI SANGRE is an exhilarating and provocative thriller from
newcomer Christopher Zalla exposing the dark side of the American dream. A young
Mexican immigrant, Pedro (Jorge Adrian Espindola), journeys to New York City in
search of the successful father he's never met only to have his belongings and
identity stolen by a conniving thief, Juan (Armando Hernandez). As Pedro is left
alone and unable to communicate in a country foreign to him, Juan cons his way
into the home of Pedro's father, Diego (Jesus Ochoa), finding a man just as
flawed as he is. While Juan attempts to reinvent himself, Pedro's only hope lies
with a mysteriously complex prostitute, Magda (Paola Mendoza), as he frantically
searches for his identity back.

Under the Same Moon

Nine-year-old
Carlos aka Carlitos is one of the countless
children left behind by parents who come to the U.S. seeking
a way to provide for their families. His mother,
Rosario, has worked illegally as a domestic in Los
Angeles for four years, sending money home to
her son and mother to give them a chance at a better life.
When the death of his grandmother leaves young Carlitos
alone, he takes his fate into his own hands and heads north
across the border to find his mother. As he journeys from
his rural Mexican village to the L.A. barrio, Carlitos faces
seemingly insurmountable obstacles with a steely
determination and unfettered optimism that earn him the
grudging respect and affection of a reluctant
protector, a middle-aged migrant worker named Enrique.
The unlikely pair finds its way from Tucson to East L.A.,
but the only clue Carlitos has to his mothers whereabouts is
her description of the street corner from which she has
called him each Sunday for the last four years. Unaware that
Rosario is only hours away from returning to Mexico to be
with her son, Carlitos and Enrique desperately comb
the vast unfamiliar city for a place he has seen only in his
imagination.

Cuba Wild
Island of the Caribbean (PBS)
Cuba's
political and economic isolation has provided the outside
world little opportunity to see its wildlife ... until now.
It may be renowned for its politics
and its cigars, but Cuba is home to some of the
most unusual creatures on earth, including the feisty Cuban
crocodile, the world's smallest bird and frog, and
migrating land crabs.
Cuba's diverse wildlife stems from its unique natural
history. Cuba was not originally in the Caribbean Sea but in
the Pacific Ocean, where the island was situated 100 million
years ago, before the forces of continental drift slowly
brought it into the Caribbean. As the island migrated over
the ages, an astonishing variety of life arrived by air,
sea, and possibly by land bridges that may have once
existed. Over time, these animals adapted to their new
environment. Today, more than half of Cuba's plants and
animals, including more than 80 percent of its reptiles and
amphibians, are found nowhere else on the planet.
Protected by its isolation, the wildlife of Cuba has
remained naturally preserved, untouched, and unexplored.
Through a special arrangement with the Cuban government,
unprecedented access was granted to film the island's
natural riches.
Join NATURE in exploring Cuba's coral reefs, swamps,
forests, and caves to uncover the astonishing diversity of
life on the island.
"Cuba: Wild Island of the Caribbean" airs Sunday, March 30th
at 8 p.m. ET on PBS (check local listings).
